It is payback time for Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, World Bank Group Chairman Ajay Banga, and Fairfax Financial Holdings Chairman Prem Watsa.

The CXOs of top organisations have reportedly decided to donate ₹300 crore to their alma mater, Hyderabad Public School, to help it spruce up its infrastructure.

“The four alumni of HPS have decided to donate ₹300 crore to the school for building a new facility at the school. When the file seeking conversion of the land was being processed, I have immediately cleared it,” Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said.

Addressing a CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India) expo here on Friday, he said the four leaders were on board to share their knowledge with the State. “They want to give back to the city where they studied,” he said.

A top official of the school, however, said that the amount was not as high as indicated (by the Chief Minister). “It, however, is decent money,” he told businessline, refusing to indicate the quantum of money that they promised to donate to the school.

New building

“The funds will be used to build a new building and renovate some of the classrooms,” he said.

As it entered the Centenary year two years ago, the school chalked out a ₹150-crore plan to elevate it into a Top-10 school globally by 2050.

The school boasts of illustrious alumni in various fields, including science, information technology, entertainment, and sports.  To achieve this Vision 2050, the school sought support from its distinguished alumni, some of whom visited the school during the Centenary year.
