China’s textile & garment exports nearly flat in Jan–Aug 2025

Exports of textile products, including yarn and fabric, rose *.* per cent year on year (YoY) to $**.*** billion, up from $**.*** billion in January–August ****. However, exports of garments and accessories declined *.* per cent to $***.*** billion compared to $***.*** billion in the same period of ****. The drop in apparel exports highlights softer retail orders from major markets and inventory rationalisation by global brands.

In August **** alone, China’s exports of textile yarn, fabrics, and related articles were valued at $**.*** billion, while garment exports stood at $**.*** billion, bringing the total export value for the month to $**.*** billion. Monthly shipments show stabilisation but remain below pre-tariff growth trajectories.
