Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has sought an additional ₹5,000 crore from the Centre under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.

Naidu, who met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Friday, sought financial assistance from the centre for several developmental initiatives being undertaken in Andhra Pradesh. So far, the State has received ₹2,010 crore under the SASCI scheme.

The Chief Minister submitted a representation seeking an additional allocation of ₹5,000 crore for pending capital projects in the State and for necessary orders on the proposals submitted by the State government for the release of ₹250 crore under the Single Nodal Agency (SNA Sparsh) incentive scheme guidelines for the financial year 2024-25.

Purvodaya scheme

While welcoming the Purvodaya scheme announced by the Centre for the integrated development of eastern States, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh would `greatly’ benefit from it. He urged the Centre to finalise the modalities for implementing the scheme at the earliest, according to a release.

The Purvodaya scheme aims to accelerate the economic development of India’s eastern region, covering States like Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.
