War 2 Final Runtime Locked
With just two days remaining for the release of the year’s most-awaited action film, War 2, a significant new detail about its final cut has been revealed. In a strategic decision to ensure a tighter and more engaging narrative, YRF has voluntarily trimmed the film, reducing its runtime by over six minutes even after receiving its certification from the Censor Board.
This last-minute edit indicates the studio’s commitment to delivering the most polished and fast-paced cinematic experience for the showdown between Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
Over 6 Minutes Trimmed Post-Censor
According to an exclusive report, after War 2 was cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on August 6, the makers approached the board again a day later to make voluntary deletions. This move resulted in a total reduction of 6 minutes and 25 seconds from the film’s length.
The film’s initial runtime was 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 49 seconds, just shy of the three-hour mark. The revised and final locked runtime for War 2 is now a crisper 2 hours, 53 minutes, and 24 seconds. This change suggests a focus on sharpening the film’s pacing ahead of its worldwide release.
A Breakdown Of The 28 Cuts
The reduction in runtime was achieved by making changes to a total of 28 scenes. The majority of these edits are minor, with 22 shots being trimmed by less than 10 seconds each, indicating that specific moments were tightened rather than entire scenes being removed. Several action sequences were also shortened, including a chase scene trimmed by 16 seconds and another action block cut by 24 seconds.
The most significant deletions include a dialogue sequence between the two protagonists, which has been reduced by 1 minute and 19 seconds. Additionally, the speed of the end credits roll was increased, which further reduced the film’s length by 1 minute and 47 seconds, contributing significantly to the overall shorter runtime.

This meticulous final edit underscores the importance of War 2 as the sixth installment in the blockbuster YRF Spy Universe. Following the monumental success of Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3, the studio is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the Ayan Mukerji directorial meets audience expectations. The film, also starring Kiara Advani and Ashutosh Rana, is set to be a crucial chapter in the ever-expanding spy saga.
