Top 10 Fantasy Series on Netflix for Your Next Binge-Watch
Netflix offers many fantasy TV shows that feel perfect for a good binge-watch session, and our number 1 is an absolute masterpiece. The best fantasy shows immerse audiences in a world of magic, supernatural beings, and things that go bump in the night. With a wide range of subgenres, there’s something for everyone.
Some fantasy shows, like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Game of Thrones, are better consumed slowly and/or multiple times to appreciate the intricate stories. Still, others are perfect for binge-watching, providing an escape from reality that’s not too heavy or serious. Netflix has excellent options that are ideal for your next binge-watch session.

Shadow & Bone
One of the most binge-worthy fantasy shows on Netflix right now is Shadow & Bone. The show follows an orphan mapmaker, Alina Starkov, who discovers that she possesses magical abilities that could heal her war-torn world. However, enemies will try to prevent this unification.
Shadow & Bone is widely considered one of the best cancelled shows on Netflix. It fixes the character flaws from the book. Additionally, the Grishaverse is exceptionally well-developed and visually captivating, which will suck viewers in and leave them wanting more. The show is also fast-paced, making it easy to continue watching one episode after another.
If you love the TV show Shadow & Bone, you need to read the books Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo.
Fortunately, the show is quick and easy to binge, as it lasted only 16 episodes. Unfortunately, the show is so good that those 16 episodes don’t feel like they’re enough. However, viewers who enjoy the show can join the ongoing campaign to revive Shadow & Bone.

Interview With A Vampire
Based on The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, the gothic dark fantasy Interview with the Vampire holds a nearly perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, garnering 99% positive reviews from critics. It’s the ideal time to binge-watch the first season, as season 2 will drop on Netflix on September 30th.
The show follows a vampire named Louis de Pointe du Lac, who tells the story of his life to a journalist named Daniel Mollow. His story focuses specifically on Louis’s experiences in 1910s New Orleans as a rich gay Creole man, and his romance with the French vampire Lestat de Lioncourt.
The acting from the cast of Interview with the Vampire is impeccable. The writing perfectly balances the Anne Rice story with new elements that heighten the original themes. It’s truly a delightful show to watch.

Sweet Tooth
Sweet Tooth is one of the most acclaimed fantasy series on Netflix, and it’s a great binge-watching option. The show follows a 10-year-old half-human, half-deer named Gus, who seeks out his mother after his father’s death. He exists within a world where most humans have become hybrids, and society has collapsed due to a virus.
The show seamlessly blends fantasy, sci-fi, and drama, making it a perfect example of speculative fiction. There’s a hopeful nihilism to the story, and it’s accompanied by resonant environmentalist messages. The nice part of Sweet Tooth is the fact that it’s appropriate for both older children and adults, meaning families can watch it together.
Even though Sweet Tooth has emotional moments, they aren’t so frequent and heavy that the episodes can’t be watched back-to-back. The adventure aspect also outweighs the drama most of the time.
7
Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina
The Netflix original show Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a reimagining of the story of Sabrina Spellman, leaning into the comic story and gothic horror aesthetic. The dark coming-of-age story follows Sabrina Spellman – a half-mortal, half-witch – who has to battle evil forces and reckon with her family’s legacy.
While some would argue that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is horror, the series delves into the magic system, isn’t very scary, and leans into atmospheric thrills. Also, the occult doesn’t automatically mean horror. As such, I’d classify it as a dark fantasy with horror elements, rather than a supernatural horror.
Ultimately, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is the perfect fantasy watch for people who enjoyed Riverdale and Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, both of which exist in the same world as the Netflix show. It’s campy, soapy, and filled with illogical twists and turns.
6
Castlevania
Netflix offers many great animated shows worth binge-watching, and one of the best fantasy options is Castlevania, an adaptation of the video games. Trevor Belmont, the last living member of the monster-hunting Belmont Clan, teams up with Sypha, a magician, and Alucard, the vampire-human hybrid son of Dracula, to defeat Dracula’s army of demons.
The dark medieval fantasy is noteworthy because it develops the lore and widens the scope across the series, making it feel like an epic story. The writing and character development are excellent. Because of the focus on worldbuilding, it’s a little slower-paced than other alternatives.
What’s more, the visuals are breathtakingly stunning, making it impossible to look away. There’s no question that Castlevania should be everyone’s next binge. Plus, anyone who enjoys it can continue the story with Castlevania: Nocturne.

I Am Not Okay With This
Based on the graphic novel by Charles Forsman, I Am Not Okay with This was one of the most promising paranormal TV shows until it was cancelled thanks to COVID-19. Regardless of the cancellation, it’s still worth binge-watching because of how excellent it is.
The story follows an LGBTQ+ teen girl named Syd who discovers that she possesses telekinetic powers that are heavily influenced by her emotions. She tries to get a grasp on them while processing her father’s death, her bad relationship with her mom, and her burgeoning feelings for her best friend.
Sophia Lillis’ excellent performance makes this 1-season Netflix show a must-watch. The script has the perfect balance between macabre humor and Syd’s fear of who she’s becoming. Luckily, I Am Not Okay with This can be binged in just 4 hours.
4
Supernatural
One of the most recognizable fantasy TV shows of all time is Supernatural, which ran from 2005 to 2020. The show follows the Winchester brothers, Dean and Sam, who follow in their father’s footsteps by hunting a wide range of supernatural forces, including monsters, demons, and ghosts.
When it comes to TV shows that are perfect for binge-watching, brevity is usually ideal. However, the iconic fantasy show Supernatural is an excellent choice for precisely the opposite reason. With 15 seasons, viewers can binge-watch Supernatural for months before reaching the end. They won’t need to worry about running out of episodes for a while.
Additionally, Supernatural isn’t one-note. The show blends together fantasy, mystery, drama, and horror, offering a mix of genres that will appeal to a wide range of viewers. On top of that, Supernatural is a must-watch for fantasy fans because it’s one of the longest-running fantasy shows of all time.
3
Stranger Things
The original show that really put Netflix on the map in the sci-fi/fantasy genre is Stranger Things, which became a worldwide hit. Which genre Stranger Things belongs to is a strong subject of debate, with sci-fi, horror, and fantasy being the strongest arguments. It’s an enigma in that it has equal claims to all three.
The show follows a group of kids in 1980s Hawkins, Indiana, who discover that their world is filled with government experiments, supernatural entities, and an alternate dimension called the Upside Down. Stranger Things draws inspiration from fantasy staples, including Dungeons & Dragons and H.P. Lovecraft (which blends horror and fantasy).
Right now is the perfect time to binge-watch the show Stranger Things because four seasons of content are already available. Additionally, Stranger Things season 5 is set to release at the end of the year in three parts.
2
Arcane
The TV show Arcane is unarguably a masterpiece in storytelling and animation, introducing a whole new audience to the expansive fantasy world and characters of League of Legends. It falls into the category of magepunk, which mixes a steampunk aesthetic with a magic system.
The story follows two orphaned sisters named Vi and Jinx. They end up on opposite sides of a growing rebellion, in which the disenfranchised undercity of Zaun is rising up against the wealthy city of Piltover.
Arcane is perfect to binge-watch because it’s completely standalone. Viewers need not be familiar with League of Legends to understand the show. However, it will add extra depth for those who do know the larger franchise.
1
Delicious In Dungeon
While many of these shows could be deemed “masterpieces,” none deserve that title as much as Delicious in Dungeon. Similar to Arcane, Delicious in Dungeon does the impossible by gaining a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, though it has fewer reviews, and it’s just as beloved by audiences.
The show follows a group of adventurers named Laios Touden, a human fighter; Chilchuck Tims, a halfling thief rogue; and Marcille Donato, an elf wizard. They’re on a quest to save Laios’ sister, Falin, who a red dragon ate. During their travels, they are joined by a dungeon-dwelling dwarf named Senshi, who sustains himself by cooking monsters.
Delicious in Dungeon is possibly the most unique Dungeons & Dragons show that I’ve ever watched. The idea is creative, drawing from that manga of the same name. The characters are well-developed, with interesting backstories and flaws that make them feel relatable. Ultimately, every fantasy fan needs to binge-watch Delicious in Dungeon, especially since season 2 is coming out soon!
