Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet’s upcoming film Marty Supreme teaser dropped. The highly anticipated film stars Timothée Chalamet as ping-pong player Marty Mauser and is directed by Josh Safdie. The film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher. The film is set to hit theatres on December 25, which is Christmas Day.
What did Timothée Chalamet play in the film?
In the first glimpse of Chalamet’s character Marty, it showed a confident young player calling up Gwyneth Paltrow’s hotel room, hoping to get an introduction. Gwyneth Paltrow plays a movie star who starts an affair with Marty, who’s a young ping pong star. Marty Mauser is an aspiring table tennis player. He wants to compete with the best in the world and help put the US on the map in table tennis.
Who all are cast in the film?
The rest of the cast in Marty Supreme is pretty eclectic. It includes Odessa A’zion, Fran Drescher playing Marty’s mom, the rapper Tyler, the Creator, magician Penn Jillette, Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank who’s also known as Mr. Wonderful, and filmmaker Abel Ferrara. According to the official synopsis of the film read as, ‘A young man with a dream no one respects goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.’
On seeing the teaser, many rushed to the comment section, and one of the users wrote, ‘Yeah, at this point I’m more than comfortable and confident in saying that Timothée Chalamet is the most exciting actor working today.’ Another added, ‘Idk if it’s the glasses or the moustache but Timothee genuinely looks unrecognizable. The crew did a good job.’
Marty Supreme is based on a fictionalised story of Marty Reisman. Reisman was a table tennis player who won five bronze medals at the World Table Tennis Championships. He passed away in 2012.
