Thunderbolts Composers Son Lux Celebrate The MCU Movie’s Digital Release With Main Theme Remix, Listen Now! (EXCLUSIVE)
The final chapter in the MCU’s Phase Five, Jake Schreier’s Thunderbolts* has received considerable praise by fans since its release in Spring 2025. Despite generating controversy for some of its storytelling choices, its treatment of mental health issues and its skillful connections to previous installments quickly catapulted it to the top ranks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s recent entries.
Also well-received was the score for Thunderbolts*, composed by Ryan Lott, Ian Chang, and Rafiq Bhatia, working as Son Lux. The trio, Academy Award-nominated for their work on 2022 Best Picture winner Everything Everywhere All at Once, recorded the music at London’s famed Abbey Road in collaboration with the London Contemporary Orchestra, channeling their knack for sonic exploration into a particularly demanding collection of superhero themes.
To commemorate the film’s Disney+ streaming debut on Wednesday, Aug. 27, Son Lux remixed their own title theme. Screen Rant was given an exclusive snippet of that remix, which will be released for streaming, download and purchase one day earlier, at 9pm PT:

You’ve Probably Already Heard Son Lux’s Music Ahead Of Thunderbolts*
Aside from their film work, Son Lux is a well-established rock music act, initially conceived by Lott in 2007 before expanding it into a three-piece outfit in 2014. Thus far, they’ve released six full-length albums and ten EPs, testing artistic boundaries — both of their own sound and the genres that inspired them.
That said, they achieved their biggest success to date with the soundtrack for Everything Everywhere All At Once, which earned them two Academy Award nominations, one for Original Score and another for their collaboration with David Byrne and Mitzki on the Original Song “This Is A Life.” Son Lux was additionally nominated for a BAFTA, and received nods from critics’ groups across the country.
“This remix presented a fun opportunity to represent our band of misfits in a new and optimistic way as the New Avengers,” Ian Chang tells Screen Rant. “We had fun continuing to find satisfying ways to marry cinematic orchestral elements with electronic production techniques for a technicolor aesthetic.”
Here’s Where To Find The Thunderbolts* Soundtrack
Except for the new remix, currently all 32 tracks are available to stream on a variety of digital platforms, both for streaming and purchase. Hollywood Records released an abbreviated version of the score, featuring 22 tracks, on transparent yellow vinyl on August 15th.
Son Lux’s new remix of the main Thunderbolts* theme premieres at 9pm PT Aug. 26. It will additionally premiere at that time on Disney’s official Marvel Music Playlist.
