Terminator Reveals Sarah Connor’s Canon Death
The Terminator franchise just revealed Sarah Connor’s canon death, totally rewriting her relationship with original franchise hero Kyle Reese. Thanks to the franchise’s shifting timeline, Linda Hamilton’s hero has been given various fates, from dying of leukemia between movies to living into the distant future, battling Skynet even after Judgment Day. Now, Terminator kills her off with a genius twist.
In today’s Terminator #10 – from Declan Shalvey, Luke Sparrow, Colin Craker and Jeff Eckleberry – fans witness a post-Judgment Day mission by the human resistance, following Major Harper Duggan and an unnamed soldier. In a quiet moment, the soldier reveals that he carries a photo of Sarah Connor, who he claims died saving him.
While the reveal that Sarah died fighting Skynet is a major one, the comic then goes on to imply that the soldier is a young Kyle Reese. This means that Kyle Reese knew Sarah before traveling back in time to save her life in 1984’s The Terminator.
In the Dynamite series so far, The Terminator has depicted a time-travelling Blitzkrieg, as Skynet sends out robots to kill off people in different time periods. This issue confirms that those targets were all members of Major Harper Duggan’s family line, and that Skynet was attempting to erase his efforts as a major resistance figurehead and, apparently, the mentorship he offered a young Kyle Reese.
This is a developing story, more will be added shortly…
