Telangana Govt Sanctions ₹150 Cr for Medaram Maha Jathara 2026
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has accorded administrative sanction for the release of ₹150 crore towards the conduct of the Sri Sammakka Saralamma Medaram Maha Jathara 2026, scheduled from January 28 to 31.
In pursuance of the Budget Release Order (BRO), the government has directed the Commissioner of Tribal Welfare, Telangana, Hyderabad to utilize the funds under the Budget Estimates provision 2025–26. The order, issued in relaxation of the Quarterly Regulation Order, earmarks the amount for schemes connected with the smooth organization of the biennial tribal festival.
The Sammakka-Saralamma Jathara, recognized as a State Festival, is one of Asia’s largest tribal congregations, drawing millions of devotees to Medaram village in Mulugu district. The sanctioned funds will be spent on drinking water, sanitation, medical facilities, accommodation, transport, energy, law and order, and other arrangements required for the massive turnout of pilgrims.
