Tamil Nadu to hold regional investment conclaves, with inaugural edition in Thoothukudi
Tamil Nadu government is set to hold a series of regional investment summits called TN Rising, starting with one in the port town of Thoothukudi on Monday.
These summits will also be held at other locations like Coimbatore and will be in the nature of mini investor meets involve signing of MoUs with companies for investment in those respective regions.
The first TN Rising summit is set to happen in Thoothukudi on Monday immediately after the inauguration of the car manufacturing plant of Vietnam’s VinFast by Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Designed to catalyse growth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, the conclave is directed towards growth of local MSMEs, to help them become integral parts of global and domestic supply chains and benefit from increased market access, technology partnerships, and capacity building.
Global industrial powerhouse
Industries Minister TRB Rajaa in a statement on TN Rising said that the conclaves are an opportunity to show that Tamil Nadu is further on the rise as a global industrial powerhouse, and the state’s investment opportunities are not just concentrated in the capital city but present across the length and breadth of the state.
The Thoothukudi Conclave is expected to bring together stakeholders including global investors, policy makers, industry leaders, sectoral experts, and academia. It will involve signing of MoUs across sectors such as green energy, electronics manufacturing, port-led development, and workforce skilling, among others.
Thoothukudi, the host for the first conclave, has garnered national and international attention in recent months following the entry of Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast, which is establishing its production facility in the district.
