South Indian cotton yarn down on weak demand; export orders may rise

In Tiruppur, cotton yarn prices declined as mills and traders faced slow demand. However, mills did not lower their official selling rates this month. A Tiruppur trader told Fibre*Fashion, “Mills are offering discounts to buyers who commit to purchasing cotton yarn. After the US tariff, the average discounts increased by ****;** per kg.” Market experts expect export orders to rise after ** months, once cheaper imported cotton arrives at Indian ports. With duty waivers, the landed cost of imported cotton will be lower, reducing production costs.
