Rajinikanth’s Coolie outshines Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s action thriller in the box office race. Here’s a look at the box office report of both the films.
Coolie vs War 2 box office day 7: Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan’s War 2 have been competing fiercely at the box office. Both films were released on the same day that is August 14, resulting in a box office clash. Coolie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj boasts the star power of superstars like Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan and others along with Rajinikanth. On the other hand, the inclusion of South star Jr NTR as the antagonist is War 2’s high point. Now, Coolie has already crossed the massive Rs 200 crore mark while Ayan Mukerji-directorial is closely following it.

According to Sacnilk, the movie made Rs 217 crore on its seventh day at the box office. Coolie ultimately started to witness a decline from the first Monday, and the collection statistics have not been favourable, despite the fact that the movie was launched for the Independence Day long weekend and had profited from it. Coolie is still the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025.

On its seventh day of distribution across all languages, War 2 brought in Rs 0.76 crore, its lowest box office total to date, according to a Sacnilk report. As of August 20, the movie had made about Rs 195 crore. This is a significant drop from its initial few days of operation and a further slowing from its first Monday.
About Coolie
Rajinikanth plays the main lead in the film. Simon, the main antagonist, is portrayed by Nagarjuna. The actor previously said in a statement that the movie has received a huge amount of positive feedback. Breaking records felt inevitable, and he called Coolie a “celebration of legacy and reinvention.” Aamir Khan makes a surprise appearance in the film, which also stars Shruti Haasan, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir.

Ayan Mukerji is the director and Yash Raj Films is the producer of War 2, the sequel to the 2019 movie War, which is said to have a budget of Rs 300–400 crore. In addition to Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, Kiara Advani, Ashutosh Rana, and Anil Kapoor play important parts in the film. “Things get complicated when Kabir Dhaliwal, a secret agent, is accused of betraying his nation and his former batchmate Vikram is assigned the task of finding him,” stated film database platform IMDb while describing the plot of the film.
