According to reports, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, two of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, will reunite together on screen after an long 46-year gap. A new speculation suggests that the two titans are in discussions to star in the gritty mafia drama that is filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is going to direct. According to the Deccan Herald, Kamal Haasan would support the movie through his production company.
Early rumours say, the actors would play elderly criminals whose pasts intersect in a violent, dramatic reunion. In keeping with the ‘Loki’ tradition, the story is believed to centre on hidden secrets, legacies, and an explosive return to the underworld.

Ninaithale Inikkum (1979) was the last time Rajinikanth and Kamal appeared together on film. Both have now left behind unique legacies, with Kamal being praised for his excellent directorial and screenplay choices and Rajinikanth becoming as a widespread superstar.
Coolie gains momentum at box office
The development occurs at a fascinating period in Tamil filmmaking. Although it got mixed reviews, Rajinikanth’s most recent film, Coolie, which was directed by Lokesh himself, premiered large. However, Kamal’s most recent film, Thug Life, did not do well at the worldwide box office.
After Kamal sent a significant tribute for Rajinikanth’s 50th year in movies, the rumours about the reunion grew even more. Sharing his admiration, Kamal wrote on X: “Marking half a century of cinematic brilliance, my dear friend @rajinikanth celebrates 50 glorious years in cinema today. I celebrate our Super Star with affection and admiration, and wish #Coolie resounding global success befitting this golden jubilee.”
