Priyanka Chopra Is Now Producing The Incredible True Love Story
In some fascinating news, global star Priyanka Chopra has announced her next big international project. But for Bollywood fans, this story comes with a huge “what if.” The project is a documentary on a subject that was once set to become a grand feature film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starring none other than Shah Rukh Khan.
While currently busy shooting SS Rajamouli’s jungle adventure with Mahesh Babu, Priyanka has come on board as an executive producer for The Cycle of Love. This documentary will tell one of the most unbelievable true love stories of the 20th century, and it’s a story that almost got the huge Bollywood treatment.
The Incredible True Story
The Cycle of Love will chronicle the journey of PK Mahanandia, a poor street artist from a small village in India. His life changed in 1977 when he met a young Swedish tourist, Lotta von Schendin. They fell in love, but she had to return to her country. Armed with only a bicycle and his paintbrushes, PK made the impossible decision to cycle over 6,000 miles across multiple continents to reunite with her.
This epic journey of love and determination will now be brought to the screen by Oscar-winning director Orlando von Einsiedel, ensuring an authentic and powerful telling of their story through real footage and interviews.
The Lost Sanjay Leela Bhansali Epic
For longtime Bollywood followers, this story will ring a bell. Back in 2013, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was all set to direct a feature film on this exact subject, titled Izhaar. He had planned to cast Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role of PK Mahanandia. A collaboration between SLB and SRK after the masterpiece Devdas would have been a massive cinematic event.
However, for reasons that were never made public, the project was shelved. It remains one of Bollywood’s most famous “lost films,” a dream project that fans have often wondered about. The idea of SRK playing the passionate artist on an impossible journey, under SLB’s grand direction, is a tantalizing thought.
