PM Modi inaugurates ₹11,000 Cr Dwarka Expressway, UER-II to Ease Delhi Traffic
New Delhi, Aug 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated two major infrastructure projects in Delhi — the Dwarka Expressway (Delhi section) and Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) — worth nearly ₹11,000 crore, aimed at decongesting the capital and improving connectivity with NCR towns.
The 10.1 km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, built at a cost of ₹5,360 crore, will connect Shiv Murti to the Delhi-Haryana border, providing multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, Delhi Metro, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station and Dwarka bus depot.
The 21 km UER-II stretch from Alipur to Dichaon Kalan, developed at a cost of ₹5,580 crore, includes new spurs linking Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. It is expected to ease congestion on Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads and busy junctions such as Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan and NH-09.
Modi, after inaugurating the projects, said they would greatly benefit commuters in Delhi-NCR by cutting travel time to IGI Airport and improving industrial connectivity. He also interacted with workers at the Dwarka Expressway and held a roadshow at Mundka-Bakkarwala Toll Plaza.
The Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway was inaugurated earlier in March 2024. (Agencies)
