Mukesh Khanna criticizes Ektaa Kapoor over Smriti Irani starrer Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi; ‘Aapko fikr nahi hai ki…’

Actor Mukesh Khanna is known for his bold statements and opinions about anything. Recently, he managed to grab attention as he called out producer Ekta Kapoor and her iconic show starring Smriti Irani, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Shaktimaan actor slammed Ekta for showing the women of the country in a negative light in her shows. He said that she has been portraying them as vamps.

During an interview with Filmy Gyan, he was talking about Ekta Kapoor, Khanna said, “Aapka kya attitude hai? Aapko fikr nahi hai ki aap morals ki esi-tesi kar rahe ho, ghar ke system ki esi-tesi kar rahe ho. Aap Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi jaise shows late ho jismein 6 auratein jhumka-bindi lagakar bolti hain, ‘Dekhti hoon tumhari shaadi kaise hoti hai.” He further said that women are shown as selfish, but in India, women are not like that and still the show gained popularity.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is one of the most popular and classic cult serials that managed to rule millions of hearts. The makers launched season two of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and it premiered on July 29, 2025. Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay reprised their iconic roles as Tulsi and Mihir Virani in the reboot show.

Actor Mukesh Khanna is still known for his lead role in Shaktimaan, India’s first big superhero TV show. Created and played by Mukesh Khanna, the show was about Pandit Gangadhar, a kind photographer who was blessed with powers through deep meditation. Kyunki seems to be appealing its loyal ardent fans as well as the new viewers.
