Marvel Rivals has introduced a new wave of content with its recent update, with some of it hinting at what could be in store for the game’s upcoming fourth Season. Much like how Knull was teased back in Season 2.5, additional in-game lore has alluded to a possible theme for Season 4 before it arrives. With an established roadmap, some aspects of Season 4 are already easy to predict.

As more events take place in Season 3.5 of Marvel Rivals, more content in the game’s story will be revealed through gallery cards and character-specific lore drops. This has already led to teasers for upcoming heroes, such as Blade being captured by Dracula all the way back in Season 1’s story. However, nothing is certain right now, except for a few key details.

When Does Season 4 Of Marvel Rivals Release?

Established Timeframes Mark An Expected Future Closer Than Usual

Season 3 is the first Marvel Rivals season that follows the updated roadmap the development team posted back at the start of Season 2. This faster roadmap announced that seasons would only last two months instead of three, with two new characters in every season moving forward. Following this logic, we can expect Season 4 to start on September 12, 2025, if everything goes according to plan.

Just like with every other seasonal change in the game, players can expect a large update containing new Season 4 content when it drops, including balance changes and a new Battle Pass for the Season.

The time window for Season 4’s start date will likely be within a few days of that prediction, giving the developers enough time to end previous content. Season 3.5 started on August 8, 2025, meaning that a potential Season 4 would begin in early September at least.

Daredevil & Angela May Be Season 4’s Next Characters

Events Of Season 3 Have Hinted At Devils And Angels

The most important information surrounding Season 4 comes from a detailed hint at Hela’s fate following the arrival of Blade in Season 3.5. Using Dracula’s sword, Blade was able to defeat the Queen in Black, who fled from the battle while the remaining heroes faced the awakened Knull back on Klyntar. A detailed lore excerpt called “Nowhere to Run” goes over Hela’s destination, from the perspective of someone else.

In this lore, Hela fled to somewhere called the “Eighth City,” an area of refuge where she could redeem herself for actions taken while allied with Knull. The person who speaks to Hela and narrates this excerpt is mentioned as being named Dizang, but the context clues of their exchange imply that Daredevil could be the one helping her atone.

Multiple times in the lore, the speaker uses phrases like “I’ve seen my fair share of devils,” and “cast out of heaven,” both having religious references that could reflect Matt Murdock’s own Catholic upbringing. Furthermore, as the speaker leaves Hela in a cell of the Eighth City, there is an emphasis on them using senses other than sight to notice her actions, making possible reference to Daredevil’s blindness.

Dizang, the speaker in the lore excerpt, is a Buddhist figure who helps souls reach the afterlife, greatly tying them to Hela, as she is the Asgardian Goddess of Death. However, in the past, Dizang has also been a version of a possessed Daredevil who leads The Hand, a group of ninjas often seen as antagonists in the comics. At least in the excerpt, the figure seems to have been given the name Dizang, seemingly as a title.

Players can find the Gallery Card with the “Nowhere to Run” lore text in the Queen’s Codex bundle, which features Hela’s Queen in Black skin as one of many different rewards.

Toward the end of the lore text, Dizang mentions how Hela is likely to be pursued by one of her kin for her actions taken as the Queen in Black. A relative who could be pursuing Hela might be Angela, a daughter of Odin and Hela’s sister as a result.

While not as hinted at as Daredevil, as Thor or Loki could fulfill that role, Angela creates a theme that could define Season 4 surrounding devils and angels. The juxtaposition between Angela’s angelic wrath and Daredevil’s steadfast ideals of redemption could build a strong theme, similar to the light and dark motif established with Phoenix and Blade in Season 3.

Season 4 Could Be Themed Around The Mystical City Of K’un-Lun

The Kung Fu Sanctuary Might Be The Hero Shooter’s Next Location

Marvel K'un Lun mystical city from Iron Fist comics

Dizang plays a large role in the Eighth City, but that realm is a prison of evils mostly tied to the other Seven Capital Cities of Heaven in Marvel Comics. These Capital Cities form the Immortal Weapons to send evils of the realms to the prison, including the Immortal Iron Fist. With Iron Fist being tied into the Eighth City’s origin, the next Season could dive deeper into Iron Fist content.

Much like Krakoa was to the X-Men in Season 2, a perfect spot for Season 4 could be the mystical city of K’un Lun for Iron Fist. Known as the birthplace of kung fu, this city is beyond all realms, a secret haven home to Shou-Lao, the immortal dragon that gifts each Iron Fist their powers.

In past comic events, an out-of-control Phoenix Force has forced Marvel heroes to flee to K’un Lun for sanctuary. Following how the Phoenix grew chaotic fighting against Knull in Season 3, this plot could come up again, explaining why characters travel to K’un Lun in Season 4.

Previous leaks have shown K’un Lun being mentioned by several characters in datamined dialogue between each other. Shou-Lao has been mentioned directly in datamined voice lines for Rocket Raccoon and Storm, further hinting at how the hidden city could play a huge role in the future.

With The Hand being connected to K’un Lun as well, this location would encourage Daredevil to be a new character as well, given the Hell’s Kitchen native’s history with the ninja organization. New maps, modes, and skins could all be themed around Iron Fist or martial arts, giving characters distinct looks unlike any of the others seen in past Seasons.

While nothing is confirmed yet, the strong hints here in Season 3.5 highly reflect those given in Season 2.5 regarding Knull and Klyntar. It seems like Marvel Rivals has a clear vision on what Season 4 will include, but everything we know so far could be disproven as more information is revealed.
