New Delhi, Aug 12:  The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 3 PM today following uproar by Opposition members, demanding withdrawal of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar.

As the House reassembled at 12 noon, Sabha Speaker Om Birla presented a proposal under Article 124(4) of the Constitution to remove Justice Yashwant Varma of the Allahabad High Court from his post, and announced the formation of a three-member committee.

He stated that the process to remove Justice Yashwant Varma from his position would begin after the committee submits its report.

Presiding officer Sandhya Rai, amid the uproar, asked the members to lay the necessary documents on the table of the House. She urged the members to proceed with Zero Hour. Despite her request, the commotion intensified, forcing her to adjourn the House until 3 PM.

Earlier, as soon as the House met at 11 am, members of the Opposition parties raised slogans, alleging voter fraud and calling for the withdrawal of the SIR process. Many were seen holding placards with anti-SIR slogans, while some wore T-shirts bearing similar messages. A large number of them moved to the Well of the House, shouting and causing a commotion.

Despite the uproar, Speaker Birla proceeded with the session, calling on members to ask questions. The Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare also responded, but the noise made it difficult to hear anything clearly.

As the chaos intensified, Speaker Birla adjourned the session until 12 noon.
