Janhvi Kapoor On Param Sundari vs Chennai Express Comparisons
The trailer for Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, has created a lot of excitement ahead of its release this Friday. The story, which shows a romance between a boy from the North and a girl from the South, has led many fans to compare it with the 2013 superhit, Chennai Express.
In a recent interview while promoting their film, both Sidharth and Janhvi addressed these comparisons. While Sidharth took it as a huge compliment, Janhvi explained the key differences between the two movies, especially when it comes to her character.
Sidharth Malhotra Takes It As A Compliment
When asked about the comparisons, Sidharth had a very positive reaction. He shared that he is a big fan of the Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone film and doesn’t mind the reference. “I think it’s a great thing. I love Chennai Express! I think it’s a good reference. I take it as a compliment,” he said.
However, he also made it clear that the two films are not the same, especially since Chennai Express was released over a decade ago. “The picture was released 10 years ago. Definitely, these two films are not the same!” Sidharth added.
Janhvi Kapoor Explains The Difference
Janhvi agreed that being compared to an iconic film is a good thing, but she pointed out a major detail that fans might be overlooking. She explained that grouping all South Indian cultures together is a mistake.
“But Deepika played a Tamilian in the film, and I play a half-Tamilian, half-Malayali girl… I am from Kerala in the film, and not all people from the South can be grouped together,” Janhvi stated. She emphasized that the setting and culture in Param Sundari are completely different. “It’s a different milieu altogether… The point is people aren’t comparing us to something that needs to be forgotten, Chennai Express was an iconic film, with iconic characters and actors,” she concluded.
