India’s most wanted terrorist Masood Azhar spotted in PoJK’s Gilgit-Baltistan: Intel

New Delhi:  Fresh intelligence inputs suggest that India’s most wanted terrorist, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar, has been recently spotted in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) — more than 1,000 km from his usual stronghold in Bahawalpur, Pakistan.

The revelation directly contradicts recent statements made by former Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who claimed in an interview with Al Jazeera that Azhar might be in Afghanistan, and added, “If and when the Indian government shares information with us that he is on Pakistani soil, we would be more than happy to arrest him.”

Intelligence agencies in India, however, are now actively tracking Azhar’s movements across PoK, suggesting a possible strategic relocation amid international scrutiny and pressure on Pakistan over harboring terrorists.

Azhar, the mastermind of multiple deadly attacks in India — including the 2016 Pathankot airbase attack and the 2019 Pulwama suicide bombing that killed over 40 CRPF jawans — has remained a major figure in India-Pakistan tensions.

Meanwhile, Jaish-e-Mohammed’s online channels continue to spread misinformation, recycling old speeches and audio clips to create the illusion that Azhar is still in Bahawalpur.

Officials say the misleading media campaign may be an attempt to divert attention from Azhar’s real location and future operational plans. (Agencies)
