India 4th Nation With Space Docking Capability: Modi
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India has become the fourth country in the world with the capability of docking and undocking in space.
Modi recalled his recent meeting with Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who became the first Indian to visit International Space Station (ISS) in June this year. Prime Minister said that Indian astronaut made the nation proud by hoisting the tricolour on the International Space Station.
On the occasion of National Space Day, the Prime Minister said the moment of seeing the tricolour in space was “beyond words” and lauded the courage and dreams of India’s youth. He announced the preparation of an “astronaut pool” and invited young Indians to join it to help fulfill the nation’s space aspirations.
Highlighting India’s advancements, he said the country is making rapid progress in breakthrough technologies like the semi-cryogenic engine and electric propulsion.
