How Many Seasons Bridgerton Will Have Revealed By Shonda Rhimes
The executive producer of Bridgerton, Shonda Rhimes, just revealed how many seasons the show will have. Bridgerton was first released on Netflix on December 25th 2020, and is based on the book series of the same name, written by Julia Quinn.
Bridgerton already has three seasons released, with season 4 of Bridgerton expected in 2026, and seasons 5 and 6 already greenlit. According to Express, Rhimes stated at the Edinburgh Film Festival that the show will have exactly eight seasons, with every Bridgerton child being the focus of one season. Check out her comments below:
“How many seasons do you think it will run for?” Husain asked, as Rhimes confirmed: “Exactly eight.”
“The Bridgerton series is eight children. Violet Bridgerton and all eight of her children married. So every season is a child.”
The excitement didn’t stop there however, as Rhimes also teased there is “a possibility for spin-offs”, as Bridgerton author Julia Quinn has written other books that are off-shoots of the story.
What This Means For Bridgerton
This update is very exciting, as the show is extremely popular, and has a huge fan base. The fact that seasons five and six are already greenlit proves that the show is doing very well. To be able to carry on for eight seasons and know that is when the show will end, and to be able to showcase each Bridgerton siblings’ love story will be satisfying to the audience.
Bridgerton is set in Regency-era England, and follows the eight siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family, Daphne, Eloise, Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth as they search for love. Season 4 is said to focus on Benedict Bridgerton, and with the update confirming that the rest of the Bridgerton siblings will have their season, we are sure to be able to see Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth, and Gregory each the focus of an individual season.
Fans of Bridgerton will no doubt be thrilled to hear that the show intends to carry on for eight seasons. Each Bridgerton child being featured as the main character of a season has enormous potential, and it sounds like that is just what is intended to happen. Stopping at only six of the eight siblings’ love stories would be disappointing because audiences would be unable to see the other two Bridgerton siblings be the main focus at all.
Apart from that, to have the show continue on until season 8 allows fans to fall back into Bridgerton for another four seasons. Audiences love the unapologetic romance of Bridgerton, largely bolstered by its setting. The extravagant gowns, hairstyles, and the beautiful sets all contribute to a unique experience. For many, the show is an escape that puts the viewer in a world that is full of elegance, sophistication, and grandeur.
