GST cut eases MMF yarn prices in India; boost seen for value chain

Virgin polyester spun yarn prices declined in Ludhiana following the GST cut. These yarns are generally traded at GST-inclusive prices, and rates fell by ****;** per kg. However, **-count recycled polyester yarn remained stable as it is sold excluding GST. Polyester-cotton (PC) yarn also remained steady as its GST rate was unchanged. A Ludhiana trader told Fibre*Fashion, “The market saw average demand, which kept yarn prices stable. Only GST-inclusive rates of some yarn varieties, such as **-count virgin polyester spun yarn, came down. The GST cut will boost the polyester textile value chain, though yarn demand may continue to follow the current market scenario.”
