Jammu Tawi, July 27: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Sunday visited the house of a youth killed in police firing and demanded a fair probe into the incident.

He also demanded that a murder case be registered against the guilty policemen and an FIR under section 302.

Speaking to reporters, he said, “This is a murder in broad daylight by the Special Branch of police in plain clothes. Since the police is under the administrative control of the Lieutenant Governor, we demand a fair probe and strict action against the guilty policemen” Chaudhary said, “Where is the compensation of Rs 35 lakh and the job letter given to the family? The contribution of our police force in fighting terrorism is highly respected. It has never harmed innocent people before.

He asked who allowed armed policemen to roam around in plain clothes “like gangsters” and kill an “innocent” person who was married only one and a half months ago.

Meanwhile, DSP Mudassar of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed in this case said that the SIT has been formed only 2 days ago and soon the entire incident will be revealed through a press conference. He refused to tell anything about who was the other person with Pravez..

He said that the statements of all the witnesses will be recorded in the FIR of July 24.

If sources are to be believed, the police constable of the District Special Branch has also confessed his crime and the SIT has also recovered the pistol used in the incident. Work is also being done on giving compensation and job letter.

21-year-old Gujjar Parvez Ahmad, a resident of Nikki Tawi area of Jammu, was killed in police firing on Thursday while he was chasing alleged drug smugglers in Satwari area. The family had accused the police of killing an “innocent” person in a “fake” encounter. A magisterial inquiry into the incident has already been ordered and two policemen involved have been suspended.
