Bharti Airtel (Airtel) reported a consolidated net profit of ₹5,948 crore for the first quarter (Q1) that ended on June 30, a 43 per cent increase year-on-year (y-o-y) from ₹4,160 crore in the same period last year. This was driven by a continued focus on portfolio premiumisation.
The company’s revenue for the quarter also grew by 28.5 per cent y-o-y at ₹49,463 crore, compared to ₹38,506 crore in the April-June quarter of last year.
In India, Q1 revenue increased by 29 per cent y-o-y at ₹37,585 crore. Mobile revenue grew by 21.6 per cent y-o-y, a result of improved customer additions and realisations. Mobile average revenue per user (ARPU) increased to ₹250 in Q1 FY26, up from ₹211 in Q1 FY25. Airtel noted that its smartphone data customers increased by 21.3 million YoY.
However, Airtel Business revenue saw a 7.7 per cent y-o-y decline. This was impacted by the company’s stated objective of focusing on quality revenue and discontinuing low-margin business. The company said that underlying growth remains steady, driven by both core connectivity and new-age digital services.
“We delivered another quarter of consistent growth, with consolidated revenues at 49,463 crore growing… We added around four-million smartphone data customers and maintained an industry leading of ₹250 for Q1FY26. Our Homes business reported solid performance with a life time high quarterly net additions of 9,39,000, resulting in a sequential revenue growth of 7.6 per cent,” said Gopal Vittal, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel.

He added that Airtel’s digital network across India and Africa now serves over 600 million customers. Vittal also noted that the decline in Airtel Business revenue reflects the full impact of the portfolio restructuring undertaken last year.
“The underlying growth trajectory remains steady at a sequential growth of 2 per cent with continued improvement in funnel and orderbook… Our balance sheet continues to demonstrate strength, supported by solid cash flow generation and disciplined capital allocation,” Vittal added.
The company reported a capital expenditure of ₹8,307 crore for the quarter. It expanded its nationwide network by installing around 1,800 additional towers and about 7,500 mobile broadband stations to enhance customer experience.
Shares of Airtel closed at ₹1,929.75 on the BSE on Tuesday, a 0.77 per cent increase from the previous close.
