In one of the biggest content deals of the year, Prime Video India has signed a multi-year post-theatrical licensing agreement with Dinesh Vijan’s powerhouse production house, Maddock Films. This landmark deal ensures that eight of the studio’s most awaited theatrical films, scheduled for release between 2025 and 2027, will stream exclusively on the platform after their cinema run.

What’s Included In The Blockbuster Deal?

The slate of films is packed with star power and highly anticipated franchise titles. Headlining the deal is Thama, a film set within Maddock’s wildly popular horror-comedy universe (Stree, Stree 2), starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. Also included is the romantic comedy Param Sundari, which stars Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor and is set to hit theatres on August 29. Furthermore, the deal covers sequels to beloved franchises like Shiddat 2 and Badlapur 2, as well as Sriram Raghavan’s ambitious project Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda.

An Extension Of A Successful Partnership

This new agreement builds on the already successful and long-standing relationship between Prime Video and Maddock Films. Previously, Maddock’s theatrical hits like Stree 2, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, and the original Stree found immense success on the streaming platform, reaching a wider global audience long after their theatrical runs. The phenomenal streaming performance of Stree 2, in particular, highlighted the massive appetite for Maddock’s content and paved the way for this long-term collaboration.

Industry Leaders On The Strategic Collaboration

Speaking on the partnership, Dinesh Vijan, CEO and founder of Maddock Films, stated, “This strategic long-term post-theatrical licensing deal is a natural extension of our shared vision: to take Indian storytelling to a truly global stage.” Manish Menghani, director and head of content licensing for Prime Video India, added, “We are thrilled to expand our strategic collaboration. This multi-film slate not only builds on the unique and wildly popular horror-comedy universe and franchise sequels but also brings in a distinctive blend of creative originality and fresh storytelling that is synonymous with Maddock.”
