Late Sunjay Kapur’s mother breaks silence on son’s demise, says wants ‘closure’ amid Sona Comstar power tussle
Sunjay Kapur’s sudden demise at the age of 53 left everyone shocked. Now, his mother Rani Kapur is demanding answers behind her son’s ‘suspicious’ death.
Businessman Sunjay Kapur passed away at the age of 53 in London. His demise on June 12 shocked everyone. He was the Chairman of Sona Comstar Group and was the ex-husband of Karisma Kapoor. As per the reports, he died of cardiac arrest. Several reports also suggested that he swallowed a bee while playing Polo leading to his demise. Now, more than a month after his demise, his mother Rani Kapur has demanded answers revolving around her son’s death and asked for closure.
What does Rani Kapur has to say?
Talking to news agency ANI, Rani Kapur said, “I still don’t know what happened to my son. I’m old now. I need closure before I go. I may be old and frail now, but my memory of being with my husband when Sona (Sona Comstar) was set up is strong. I remember the early days of Sona (Sona Comstar), built with care, sacrifice and love.” She further added that she wants to remind everyone that family’s legacy should not be lost. Rani Kapur added that given her health and age, she won’t make any further comments and rather will let her legal team handle everything.

Rani Kapur’s reaction comes after Sona Comstar responded to her demands to defer company’s AGM. In a letter written to the company, she had claimed that she was forced to sign documents behind closed doors when she was mourning the demise of her son. Despite the letter, the company went ahead with the AGM and appointed Sunjay Kapur’s wife Priya Sachdev as a non-executive director.
Did Karisma Kapoor ask for share in Sunjay Kapur’s estate?
Amid all of this, there were reports suggesting that Karisma Kapoor, the ex-wife of Sunjay Kapur, has also demanded a share in his massive empire. However, later the reports clarified that the actress has made no such demand claim and that their children are the legal heirs. Sunjay Kapur married Karisma Kapoor in 2003 and they were granted divorce in 2016. They had two children – Samairaa and Kiaan. Later, Sunjay Kapur married Priya Sachdev.
