High Court issues guidelines for civil suits involving Armed Forces Personnel

Srinagar, July 25: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has inserted a new Chapter VII-A in the Jammu and Kashmir General Rules (Civil) of 1978, providing clear procedures for handling civil suits involving serving soldiers.

Titled “Suits by or Against the Soldiers,” the amendment outlines the jurisdiction of civil courts over armed forces personnel, exemptions regarding arrest and attachment of pay, and steps to ensure priority hearing for soldiers on leave.
