Uzbek farmers to receive state subsidy for cotton cultivation


A new government decree said farmers will now be provided with additional material assistance by the state so that they can timely harvest cotton without losses.

If Uzbek textile firms grow cotton at their own expense or purchase it from the market, the state will reimburse them 10 percent of the cost of raw materials.
In particular, a subsidy of 1 million soums (~$80.48) will be allocated for each ton of cotton. This measure is expected to significantly reduce crop losses during the harvest season, a domestic media outlet reported.
If Uzbek textile enterprises grow cotton at their own expense or purchase it from the market, the state will reimburse them 10 per cent of the cost of raw materials. This will cut production costs.
