Resident Evil Requiem Director Confirms No Lisa Trevor
Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi has officially dashed the hopes of fans to see the return of a classic RE character in the long-awaited game. Requiem will see newcomer Grace Ashcroft, daughter of RE Outbreak‘s Alyssa Ashcroft, step into the starring role, and it remains to be seen if other new characters will be revealed, but there’s now one character that definitely won’t be in the game.
In an interview on Den Famico Gamer (text in Japanese and translated by Genki on X), Nakanishi has confirmed that the monster chasing Grace in the game’s trailers is not Lisa Trevor. He also confirms the sound effects being used for the creature in the revealed promotional material are actually a work-in-progress and are based on Lisa Trevor’s voice in Resident Evil 1 remake, but the creature isn’t her.
Lisa Trevor Will Not Be In RE Requiem
Other Classic Characters Could Appear
Nakanishi joked that it was “fine to use this as the headline of the article. ‘Actually, it wasn’t Lisa'” The director also confirmed that the final design elements of the creature may end up changing as development continues. Some fans speculated the creature was the tragic Lisa Trevor, and she also appeared in the fairly recent Welcome to Raccoon City film.
As far as other classic characters, it seems they are not off the table. Alyssa has been absent from the series for almost 20 years, and she is returning, though fans think they have already figured out her role in Requiem. Numerous leaks and rumors have also pointed to fan-favorite Leon Kennedy being a second playable character in the game.
RE Requiem Is A Mysterious Title
Reportedly, The Most Ambitious RE Game To Date
Even after a new demo and trailer at Gamescom, we still don’t know a lot about Requiem. The game will feature a dual-camera system, letting players choose if they wish to play the game in first-person, third-person, or swap between the two. The latest demo featured empty bottles that could be thrown for stealth, similar to The Last of Us.
According to Nakanishi, the game has between 150 to 200 internal developers working on the game, with him saying: “There are a lot of people involved in the development.” With that much talent behind it, hopefully, Resident Evil Requiem delivers a memorable horror experience for classic fans and new fans.
