Rumors of a September Nintendo Direct have been running rampant, and now, a new leak suggests that this could be the show Nintendo fans have been waiting for. Early leaks have suggested that a September Direct is being planned for September 12, and even though that’s right before the 40th anniversary of Mario, it looks like the show may be much bigger than just the iconic red plumber.

According to a YouTube video from SwitchForce, the leaker who stated the September Nintendo Direct was indeed happening, the Direct will be “the big one” and will be a general Direct. Like all rumors and leaks, though, this information should be taken with a grain of salt until Nintendo officially announces a Direct for September.

Rumored September Nintendo Direct Will Be A General Direct

A Mix Of First-Party, Third-Party, & Indie Titles

According to SwitchForce, the rumored September Direct will be a “very exciting show.” He also teases that the show will be a glimpse into the future for the Nintendo Switch 2, and will focus on first-party, third-party, and indie titles. In other rumors, it’s been alleged that Nintendo may do multiple Directs in September, allegedly focusing on Metroid Prime 4, the Mario 40th anniversary, and this purported general direct.

We still do not have an official confirmation that the September Direct is happening, but it’s looking likely. Minus 2024, Nintendo has held a Direct showcase in September virtually every year since the show’s inception. The recent Kirby Air Riders Direct came out of nowhere, seemingly, and gave first gameplay of the title and a release date, so almost anything is possible when it comes to Nintendo.

What Games Might Be Shown At The September Nintendo Direct

One Major Game Is Obvious

If the September Nintendo Direct is real and if it is a general direct, it will likely be a huge show for Nintendo fans. The big question a lot of fans want answered is when Metroid Prime 4 is releasing, as the game was recently rated by the ESRB and remains the only major first-party 2025 Nintendo title without a release date yet. Other than that, and probably a Mario announcement for the anniversary, virtually anything could be announced.

A release date for Hades 2 could be on the table, as well as more gameplay and information about The Duskbloods. There will likely be some new announcements, too, if this Nintendo Direct does indeed turn out to be a general show. It may also be the last general one of the year, so fans should give the rumors their due skepticism for now, but all will be revealed soon enough.
