Peacemaker Season 2 Hints at Major Superman Cameo

After watching the first episode of Peacemaker season 2, I am convinced the show is teasing a major Superman cameo. The story of Peacemaker season 2 has been teased to follow directly on from Superman, with James Gunn himself insisting it will make the DCU’s future clearer. Superman‘s ending was, ironically, the DCU’s true beginning, with Peacemaker picking up the reins.

Based on Gunn’s comments, upcoming DCU movies will likely serve as pseudo-sequels to Peacemaker, with the franchise finally having a level of interconnectivity that many desired with the DCEU’s movie timeline. With Peacemaker season 2, that interconnectivity is already being shown. For instance, the show retcons the Justice League’s cameo from Peacemaker season 1, replacing them with Superman‘s Justice Gang.

Moreover, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Sean Gunn reprise their roles as Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner, and Maxwell Lord, respectively. To build on this, I am convinced the show will feature another major cameo from Superman, especially when considering the overall story of Peacemaker season 2 and some exciting comments from Gunn.

Peacemaker Season 2 Has An Interdimensional Story

Firstly, it is worth exploring the elements of Peacemaker season 2 that support this theory. The crux of Peacemaker season 2’s story is the Quantum Unfolding Chamber. In Peacemaker season 1, this was used as an armory for Christopher Smith/Peacemaker and his father, Auggie/The White Dragon.

In essence, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber is a pocket dimension that contains hundreds of doors that lead to other universes. In season 1, this space was used to store Chris’ helmets, which provided him with powers and were made by his father. Peacemaker season 2 utilizes the Quantum Unfolding Chamber in a much bigger way, however.

In Peacemaker season 2, episode 1, Chris finds another set of Peacemaker helmets in front of one of the many doors. Upon entering, he finds himself in an alternate universe where his father is not an evil neo-Nazi and his brother, Keith, is still alive. Back in the main DCU timeline, though, ARGUS is tracking Chris’ usage of the Chamber.

This ties back to Superman, with ARGUS picking up similar energy readings to the “Luthor Incident.” This is a reference to Lex Luthor’s tampering with interdimensional doors in Superman that almost led to Metropolis being destroyed.

In May 2025, even before the release of both Superman and Peacemaker season 2, James Gunn teased connections between the two projects. More specifically, Gunn teased a major Superman cameo in Peacemaker season 2. The DC Studios head was asked about how the two projects will tie together, leading him to reference the cameos from the first episode.

After mentioning the appearances of Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner, the filmmaker dropped another exciting hint. Gunn stated, “There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show, causing a great deal of speculation as to who this could be. One of the obvious theories was that David Corenswet would appear as Superman himself.

This would certainly make sense, as one of the many cameos in Superman was from John Cena as Chris Smith. That said, this was utilized as a joke in Superman, and it is difficult to see any logical reason as to why Kal-El and Peacemaker would interact. Nonetheless, this comment from Gunn has my mind racing about who could appear in Peacemaker season 2.

I’m Convinced Mr. Terrific Is Peacemaker Season 2’s Big Cameo

The most logical conclusion I could reach regarding Peacemaker season 2’s big cameo is an appearance by Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific. When taking into account the central aspects of Peacemaker season 2’s plot, Terrific’s inclusion becomes more likely. Among Superman‘s extended cast, Gathegi had the biggest role due to Luthor’s interdimensional plans.

Mr. Terrific was the only Justice Gang member who wished to help Lois find Superman, driven by his curiosity about Luthor creating a pocket dimension. Once discovering that Luthor had indeed done what Lois claimed, Terrific became much more actively involved, as he knew the risks of tampering with unstable dimensional gates.

For the entire third act of Superman, Terrific’s main goal was to stop the interdimensional rift from consuming Metropolis. Given that Peacemaker season 2 is leaning into similar plot points, with Chris Smith already causing problems in the alternate universe by unwittingly killing a different version of himself, Mr. Terrific’s appearance makes a lot of sense.

ARGUS is also watching Smith closely due to the dangers of opening a dimensional portal, so it would make sense for them to bring in Terrific, who has a level of expertise in that department. If Chris’ Quantum Unfolding Chamber becomes unstable later in the season, when Gunn stated there would be a major cameo, Terrific having a role becomes even more likely.

Finally, Mr. Terrific was also a fan-favorite character in Superman. The character was arguably the highlight besides the titular hero, so seeing him again in Peacemaker season 2 would be great. For these reasons, I think it is almost guaranteed that Edi Gathegi appears in Peacemaker season 2, providing a massive connection between it and Superman.
