LEH, Aug 18: More than 100 workers from a film unit were hospitalized in Leh following suspected food poisoning, officials said on Monday. All patients are reported to be stable.

The incident occurred late Sunday after crew members, none of them locals, complained of severe abdominal pain, headache, and vomiting. They were rushed to SNM Hospital, where doctors confirmed it as a case of food poisoning.

“Around 600 people had meals at the shooting location. Food samples have been collected for analysis,” an official said.

Hospital authorities said the sudden influx of patients created a panic-like situation in the emergency ward, but additional staff were mobilized quickly to manage the crisis. Police were also called in to control the crowd.

Doctors said most of the affected workers have been discharged after treatment, while a few remain under observation.

The film crew had been camping in Leh for the shoot of an upcoming Bollywood movie. (Agencies)
