J&K: CM Omar Announces Ex-Gratia for Kathua Cloudburst, Landslide Victims
Jammu, Aug 17: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday announced ex-gratia relief for families affected by a cloudburst and landslide in Kathua district that killed seven people, including five children, and injured six others.

According to the CM’s Office, assistance will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in addition to State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) support. Each deceased’s family will receive ₹2 lakh, while ₹1 lakh will be given to the severely injured and ₹50,000 for minor injuries.

For property loss, the government sanctioned ₹1 lakh for fully damaged houses, ₹50,000 for severely damaged houses, and ₹25,000 for partially damaged houses.

The chief minister expressed deep concern over the loss of lives and property, assuring that immediate relief measures are being extended to help the victims’ families rebuild their lives.
