Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to restructure the loans borrowed at a high interest rate by the previous government.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the CREDAI Property Show here on Friday, he said the State Government was facing a severe economic crisis due to the mounting debt and interest burden.
Financial institutions
“To overcome it, we convinced the financial institutions and got loans aggregating to ₹26,000 crore restructured at a 7.5 per cent interest rate for 35 years,” he said.
“The Union Government should also come to the rescue of the state in the hour of crisis and help it in getting restructuring of loans aggregating to ₹2 lakh crore,” he said.
Defending his frequent trips to New Delhi, he said he was there to obtain clearances for several infrastructure projects, including the Metro expansion and the Regional Ring Road.“The State has only one airport, whereas the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh has 3-4 airports. The Congress could secure permissions for two more airports at Warangal and Adilabad,” he said.
