King Kong’s New Titan Reveal Makes It Clear the Monsterverse Fumbled a Major Villain

Warning! Preview pages ahead for Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #3!Several DC Universe characters have just met a couple new Titans and one has a much cooler design than Kong’s last enemy, Skar King. The DCU and the Monsterverse have collided once more and this time, it’s the DC characters who are in a strange new world, trapped and faced with powerful and seriously cool-looking new Titans.

In a preview for Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #3 by Brian Buccellato and Christian Duce, Harley Quinn is in the Monsterverse. Despite venturing to this new world with the Suicide Squad, she’s gone off on her own to talk with her counterpart in this world, looking to get advice on whether she should find this world’s Joker.

In the Hollow Earth, however, Superman and Lex Luthor are facing a big, Titan-sized problem as they’re swarmed by several Great Apes. Leading the pack is a Great Ape that looks similar to Kong, but with a balding appearance and a deep scar running over its right eye. It unleashes a war cry and prepares to kill the invaders.

A Simple, Yet Effective Alternate Version of Skar King

The 2024 film, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, was a fantastic expansion of the Monsterverse’s mythos. In the film, Kong travels to the Hollow Earth, where he meets more Great Apes like him, all of whom are serving under the tyrannical Skar King. Skar King was Kong’s complete opposite, not just in personality, but in appearance as well.

Skar King’s design was interesting, no doubt, but between his longer, orangutan-like proportions and his Whipslash weapon, he’s almost a little over-designed. What’s interesting about the Great Apes in this issue, especially the leader, is that they actually look like Kong. It’s a simpler design but one that serves the same purpose as Skar King just as well.

Kong’s New Enemies Look Incredibly Intimidating

How Will Superman and Lex Luthor Handle Them?

They don’t look like Skar King, but these new Titans look incredibly fearsome regardless. And with Superman’s powers not acting right in the Monsterverse, he and Lex are in serious danger. Maybe they could get some assistance from Kong, because if he could take on the Skar King, he should be able to stop these Titans as well.
